About Premier League Primary Stars

We work hard to raise aspirations through our Premier League Primary Stars and Schools Sports Coaching programme using the power of football and sport and the Boston United Football Club brand

Boston United Community Foundation offer a variety of sports and coaching to schools through our Premier League Primary Stars and Schools Sports Coaching programmes.

Launched in 2017 and available to primary schools in England and Wales, Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to support pupils in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field. Visit PLPrimaryStars.com for more details.

Premier League Primary Stars is an education programme managed by the Premier League Charitable Fund. It aims to connect learning to the world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging topics, create positive and lasting outcomes for children, young people and the broader community in the areas of sport, health and education. PL Primary Stars is linked to the national curriculum, and is accessible to all primary schools in England and Wales, inspiring girls and boys aged 5-11 years old in the classroom, on the playground and on the sports field.

Premier League Primary Stars’ range of more than 640 curriculum-linked activities support teachers to build their pupils’ confidence in key areas from Maths and English to PSHE and Physical Education. More than 58,000 teachers have used the free curriculum-linked resources since the programme began.

It offers a world-class primary schools programme that uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to improve and enhance physical education (PE) and other curriculum areas, developing skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.

In addition to PE, English and Maths resources, Premier League Primary Stars also supports teachers to deliver classroom-based discussions and activities on important societal topics such as anti-discrimination, mental health and gender stereotypes linked to No Room for Racism, Wellbeing Stars, and Rainbow Laces. After using the PSHE resources, 72% said that their pupils understand more about how to challenge prejudice and discrimination and 79% of teachers said their pupils have a better understanding of how to look after their own wellbeing.

Their resources include flexible activity ideas, worksheets, lesson plans, assemblies, and exclusive videos. PSHE topics covered include resilience, diversity, self-esteem, and fair play. In addition to classroom resources, Boston United staff work with teachers to deliver fun and educational sessions in a range of subjects within local partner schools.

Premier League Primary Stars aims to:

  • Enhance teachers' knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve the delivery of P.E. and school sport

  • Increase children’s enjoyment, participation, and skills in competitive and non-competitive sports and physical activity

  • Increase children's understanding of the personal skills and values needed to achieve their goals

  • Enhance children's interest, understanding, and confidence in English and maths

  • Support young people into further participation pathways in sport
