Community Coach Ryan shortlisted for award

Boston United Community Foundation are delighted to announce that community coach and volunteer, Ryan Pick has been named a finalist in the Active Youth Champion Award category for the Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards.

Ryan's journey with the club began when he was a participant in the Community Foundation’s football fun days as a young boy. A passionate and committed individual, when he aged out of the participant category, Ryan expressed a desire to give back to the community by volunteering his time.

Since then, Ryan's involvement with the club has been extensive and impactful. Upon joining the Community Foundation's Football and Education programme as a student, he has become an integral part of various projects, dedicating numerous hours to support community initiatives. This commitment showcases his deep dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Ryan's initial connection with the club stemmed from his love for football, but his engagement has exceeded through in to other sports. Through volunteering, he has not only enhanced his football knowledge but has also honed crucial communication and organisational skills. The club has provided him with a platform to develop these skills, contributing to his personal growth and preparing him for future endeavours.

Ryan's support within the community also extends far beyond the football pitch. Regularly seen at schools around Boston, he actively supports our Tiny Pilgrims, Wildcats, and Squad’s sessions. Additionally, his involvement as a match official for various teams, and support for mascots on Boston United matchdays highlights his diverse contributions to the club's activities.

In turn, the community has reciprocated its support for Ryan. His consistent presence and involvement in various community programmes have made him a familiar face, earning him popularity among colleagues and participants alike. His kind and friendly approach has creates positive atmospheres, making him not just a volunteer but a beloved figure within the community.

There are eleven categories in the Active Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards, with winners being announced at their awards evening in November, when we will give a further update on the results.
